[BEWARE: MAJOR Spoilers for Age of Ultron may follow]
The rumors of a different Avengers team formed by Captain America started a few months ago. The idea was that at the end of Age of Ultron, the destruction and devastation would be so bad, it would break the current team members apart. Adding weight to that rumor was the news that came out not too long ago saying that Iron Man will be apart of Captain America 3 in major role, which will kick off the Civil War storyline.
Then there’s the first trailer for Age of Ultron that was released a little less than a week ago. In it we see the Avengers being torn apart. At first the thought was Iron Man would be just testing out the Hulkbuster armor. It looks like from the trailer that he is actually really fighting the Hulk. While initially fans saw Age of Ultron as just filler until Thanos comes around, it’s turning out to be much more.
Now, there is Marvel head Kevin Feige’s comments about it. When talking with Buzzfeed, Feige said the following:
“The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins… It’s like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was. I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the [Avengers] roster is altered by the finale of this film.”
From all the evidence taken here, it looks as though there will be some new members and some former members gone from the Avengers at the end of Age of Ultron. A post-credits scene with a newly formed Avengers team would make for a pretty killer teaser for what’s to come. With the introduction of several other new superheroes imminent, like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, the team could be changing sooner than we thought.
What do you think about this news? Who would you like to see join the Avengers? We already know that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will become part of the team, but who else would you like to see? Sound off in the comments below.
