Max Landis Wrote a Crazy ‘Super Mario Bros.’ Screenplay

Long before Max Landis wrote Chronicle and two Adventures of Superman comics, he wrote a long spec script for a dark and realistic Super Mario Bros. that you can read here.

Just looking through the first few pages of the script, it shows the signs of an early writer, like overuse of exposition and huge blocks of dialogue. That being said, it still wasn’t bad, and it’s better than what most young writers would be able to do with the project.

Landis also comissioned artist Darren Calvert to do some concept art for the movie, which you can see down below:
