Skeet Ulrich becoming series regular for ‘Riverdale’ S2

This article contains SPOILERS for Riverdale season 1!

Of the many, many excellent things about the first season of Riverdale – or Dawson’s Peaks as we’ve taken to calling it around here – the character of FP Jones, played by Skeet Ulrich, was pretty high up the list. Initially seemingly little more than a drunken deadbeat dad, FP was gradually revealed to have a complex relationship with his son Jughead, as well as being tied to various other characters in intriguing – and in some cases, yet-to-be-revealed ways.

So we were a bit worried that being sent to prison for his part in covering up the murder of Jason Blossom might mean a reduced role for FP in season two – but happily, that’s not the case. In fact, reports Deadline, Ulrich has been bumped up to series regular status – the second character from the first season to earn this, after Casey Cott’s Kevin Keller also did so.

All of the rest of the regular cast from season one are returning for the second – and as far as we know, that’s also supposedly going to include Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, despite that shock cliffhanger ending to the first season. In the recurring cast, Ross Butler has departed the role of Reggie for scheduling reasons, to be replaced by Charles Melton; Hiram Lodge will make his debut, played by Mark Consuelos; and it seems pretty likely that the long-lost Cooper brother will also show up.

We just have two further wishes at this point: one, that it’s anything like as batshit-mental-silly-brilliant as the first season; and two (sort of connected to the first) that Melissa Joan Hart turns up to play either Sabrina, or one of Sabrina’s aunts. Take note, CW.
