We’re not always suckers for a bit of fun PR guff here at Cinematic Universe, but when it involves Spider-Man we can find ourselves swayed. Especially when it involves Spider-Man visiting our (former) adoptive city.
So yes, we’re actually pretty impressed with these photographs Sony have commissioned, of Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Tom Holland stunt double Chris Silcox climbing various tall London landmarks and posing in front of iconic locations – all while wearing one of the actual Spidey costumes from the new film. And, we’re assured, with no Photoshop trickery whatsoever.
“It’s been an honour to work on Spider-Man: Homecoming as Tom’s stunt double,” said Silcox. “I’m proud to bring the Spidey Suit into his hometown and showcase a little of what’s to come when the film is released in a few weeks. The views from London’s Heron and BT Towers are spectacular and rival those of New York!”
“I thought at first it was an art installation,” said a purported onlooker, “then I saw he was moving and couldn’t believe my eyes! He was literally clinging onto the building with his fingers and striking some unbelievable poses – I wasn’t surprised when I heard he was the stuntman from the new film.”
We particularly enjoyed seeing Spidey on the tube, although we can only hope he has a better grasp of the London Underground map than Thor does. Hashtag Thorningtoncrescent.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is out in the UK on 5th July. We will doubtless have an awful lot to say about it.
