Update: Making Star Wars has come out with another description of the trailer, which is pretty similar to the first one except for a few significant points. The main difference is that John Boyega and Daisy Ridley are the main focus of the trailer. Boyega is said to be in a Stormtrooper suit without the helmet, and Daisy Ridley is wearing a helmet similar to the one Leia wore on Endor. There is also a reveal of the new “Sith” of the film, who has a cross-beam lightsaber that is said to be “more super-charged” than your average lightsaber.
Original Article: A trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been rumored for a while now, despite the fact that the film is still more than a year off. Badass Digest recently heard a rumor about what it could contain, and when it could come out. The description for it reads:
What’s it going to be like? If my sources are correct (and this is a big IF. These sources have been mighty reliable in the past, and if they’re wrong I believe they’re wrong honestly, ie they’re not bullshitting me), it’ll be short. And when I say short, I mean one minute long. It’s going to have The Force Theme played on woodwinds, softly, over flashing images of the main leads, each fading to black. There’s no dialogue, just reveals of the characters. And then the music swells up into a full orchestral piece – perhaps what John Williams recorded this weekend? – and we hear a female voice, likely Daisy Ridley’s, saying “Wake up.”And then the title card appears – Star Wars: The Force Awakens – and we see the Millennium Falcon, firing blasters, coming right at the camera.
On the release date for it, the report indicates it will most likely be coming out within four to five weeks of now. No specific date is given, but it will be before the end of the year.
Just hearing the description for the trailer gets me excited. Since it’s a teasee, it probably won’t give away a lot, but some footage from the film is enough to hold us over until we get closer to a release date.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out on December 18, 2015.
