The news coming from the upcoming Terminator: Genisys has been met with it’s fair share of negativity. First, it started with the really odd spelling of its title. Then, we got some pretty weird and confusing details about how time travel will be incorporated into the narrative. Now, there’s this.
Mark Reilly of the Meet the Movie Press podcast recently said he basically had the whole movie spoiled for him, and while he wouldn’t give away specific plot details, he did say this:
“This is what I’ll say. We’re in trouble. This movie is going to piss off Terminator fans. I think it’s going to be the last nail in the coffin in the franchise. I really think that. The way that they are trying to spin a new take on the Terminator series, I don’t even think it looks good on paper.”
That doesn’t sound very good. He also went on to say:
“I know the ending, and I know who the villain is, and it’s out of left-field, which I don’t like. And it’s Arnold coming back as the old Terminator and time-travelling. And the time-travelling elements are going to confuse the hell out of everyone from what I’m hearing.”
If it’s as bad as he makes it out to be, then that’s a huge disappointment. There was a possibility for a great film here, but it now looks like that’s not what we’re getting. While this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, it’s not a good sign.
