Tom Hardy Being Considered for Apocalypse in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

To be completely honest, I’ve never really considered who could play the titular role in X-Men: Apocalypse. I guess I always figured they would either utilize complete CGI so there would be no actor or it would be done with motion-capture, so a veteran with that system like Andy Serkis would do the role. While that is still possible, and motion-capture will probably be the way the go, they still have to find someone to play him, and it appears they already have an actor in mind.
As part of their report on who is still being considered for Doctor Strange, The Wrap also dropped the bit of news that Tom Hardy is wanted to play Apocalypse in the upcoming sequel to the terrific Days of Future Past. While the news was delivered rather subtly, it’s no less important. Up until this point, no actors have really been rumored for the role. In fact, I haven’t seen many people at all even discuss the matter before now.

One of the things that Apocalypse will handle differently than Days of Future Past is the villain. While I suppose Trask or the Sentinels could be considered the “villains” of the movie, there was really no clear-cut character taking on the villain role. That little thing right there is one of the things that made Days of Future Past so different and unique. Mystique and Magneto could possibly be considered antagonists, but they were really only fighting for their cause. It will be interesting to see how Apocalypse handles it differently and how it will affect the movie.

Would you like to see Tom Hardy play Apocalypse? Or would you rather another actor play him? Sound off in the comments below.
